| So, things haven't exactly been to exciting lately. Just the same old same old. Austin got his 2nd tooth! You can see the tip of it! My little baby is growing up so, so fast. It's crazy!!! Eric got his tattoo covered up, FINALLY. =] That made me very happy! We are going back to WV in like a month. Woohoo!!!! I really can't wait to see my family again. I talked to Sarah about it the other day and we both agreed that we are just going to cry when we see eachother. I think it will be like that with my whole family though. It's been forever since I have seen any of them. Almost a whole year for all of them. =[ It's sad stuff. I've been really getting into this cooking thing. All I do is watch the food network. lol Tonight I made Chicken Alfredo with homemade sauce and everything...=] We got me a food processor today so that I can make some dough. I'm going to attempt to make something called Pizza Rustica. Oh my it looks so good! It's like a pie type thing and it has 3 different kinds of cheese in it, spicy italian sausage, italian bacon, and spinach. Yummy!! I'll probably try to do that this weekend sometime. ((Ashley you should be very happy, I'm actually learning!!)) Well, I really have nothing to update about. Eric is playing a stupid game though and I'm bored. So I just thought that I would ramble for a bit. <3 | | |
| So, I figured that I would go ahead and update about this.. Austin had his 6 month appt. on Friday. It didn't exactly go as planned. We'll start with the good news first. He now weighs 18 pds. 2 ounces. He is 28 1/2 inches long. =] My big boy!! Health wise he is doing wonderful!! He also did very well with his shots. I don't agree with how they do him down here. They don't let you hold him yourself, they have 2 people there someone holds him down and someone gives him a shot. I think they would just be more comfortable if Momma or Daddy was holding them-but whatever. We did get a new guy that I think it was his first day. He's the one that gave Austin his shots, I think he must have hit it the wrong way because he still has a knot on his leg!! But, he hasn't been fussy about it at all-he's such a good boy! =] Well, now to the news that we got. The "intern" or whatever you want to call him--the guy that was woring with the Dr. came in and was looking Austin over. I noticed that he was spending a lot of time paying attention to his eyes. He then asked if I had noticed that Austins eyes weren't symetrical. I told him now and he continued to try to look at them. Then he proceeds to tell me that Austin has a "Lazy Eye" Well, the Dr. comes in (who was a total bitch btw) and she agrees with him that Austin has a "lazy eye" and we will have to see a specialist and that they will probably just do surgery on his eye and that will make it better. WTF. I'm freaking out by this point. Why would they tell me that?!? A first time mother-who is in the office ALONE with her son they tell her that her baby is going to have to have surgery on his eye--when I have YET to see a specialist!! Oh I wasn't happy! So we go get his shots and come home and I put Austin down for a nap and Eric called and I'm hysterically crying trying to explain to him what all the dr. told me. Well, to make a long story short, I did some research about "lazy eyes" and talked to some people and there are a TON of things that they can do for his eye BEFORE they do surgery. They can put a patch over the good eye. They can give him special glasses to wear. There is vision therapy that he can do (it's more for older children though.) Plus, his isn't that bad, it only does it every now and then (I notice it mostly when he's tired/cranky/just woke up.) Which would mean that it is a Intermittent Strabismus-that is where it only does it once in awhile, maybe when the patient is tired or in a stressful situation. It is better to have that because when they have Constant Strabismus the brain trains itself to just disgard the image that come from the "lazy eye" But, when it's Intermittent it won't feel the need to train itself. So, we are supposed to hear something about the specialist, it's weird how they have to do things here they have to go through the insurance company and get a referal and such. I felt like a horrible mother though, I had never noticed it. If I had, I had just pushed it to the back of my mind and not thought anything of it. I guess that makes sense though, no Mom wants to find anything wrong with her baby. I was so shocked when they told me because I had never noticed it. But, once I got home and got to looking at pictures and really looking for it when he would look at me. I could tell. It's not horrible, his eye doesn't go everywhere, it just drifts to the middle every now and then. Well, he's getting fussy so I'm going to go! | | |
| Okay, so I said I was going to start posting on here, then I promised an update. So, I had better get to it, huh? This won't be to long. It seems the only time I have to do something is when Austin is napping. And his naps seem to be few and far between these days. Speaking of Austin-lets start there. He's amazing. It seems like overnight he became this little man with his own little attitude and way of doing things. It's like suddenly he can do all these things that he couldn't just over night. It makes me sad to think that my little baby is growing up, but then I'm filled with such happines at the same time. He hates being put to sleep anymore, he wants you to lay him down in his crib so that he can put himself to sleep. Which is a good thing, I guess. I just miss my cuddle time, =[. He loves being read to before he is put to bed, it's way to cute. So, that is the cuddle time that I get! His first tooth has started poking through! You can't see anything yet, but if you rub his gums you can feel the tip of it! He's been miserable, so fussy! I can't wait for it to finally poke through though, he's going to look SO different! Eric and I are wonderful, we were married for one year on Feb. 10th. Being married is so much more than I ever imagined that it would be. You hear so many people talking about how bad their marriage is and blah blah blah. And then here we are, happy as ever! I feel so lucky to have married such an amazing man, someone that I know I can always count on. Someone that is always here for me-no matter what. And someone who is such an amazing father. I love it. I love him, more than I could ever explain. We are coming back hom to visit in May. I can't wait, I miss my family SO SO much! And as of June 2008 we will be living back in WV! I'm so excited for that! I love living down here-the beach is amazing. And the weather, you can't beat it. But, I miss my family back home. I hate that they have missed out on so much with Austin. And I know that Eric feels the same way about his family. So, living back home is going to be nice. Well, I promise a larger post when I actually have the time! Now, Austin is sleeping so here is my list of things that I get to do while he is! -put laundry away. -load some more in the washer. -unload the dishwasher. -make the bed. -clean up around the house. -and finally take a shower and get ready for the day! -then, if he is still sleeping I might get a chance to read my book, or do something for me! haha. <3 | | |
| I WILL update this soon--I promise!!! Erics mom and sister are in town till tomorrow, so I haven't had time to do much! But this weekend expect a BIG update! =] | | |
